چکیده
The risk for many pregnancy complications, including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), is higher in multiple gestations. aim of the current study was to assess whether a diagnosis GDM during gestation entails similar future overt (DM) as associated with singleton pregnancies. A retrospective cohort conducted, all women who delivered at large tertiary medical center between years 1991-2021, and had least one diagnosis. Women diagnosed gestations were compared outcomes investigated included DM well HbA1c >6.4 mg/dL following index pregnancy. Background characteristics groups, mode conception (spontaneous vs. fertility treatments), ethnicity age. Cox proportional multivariable analysis used compare two while adjusting confounding variables. 13,770 mothers, 458 (3.3%) 13,312 (96.7%) Mothers both groups did not differ age (31.7±5.3 vs 31.8±5.8, p=0.54) but twin mothers more likely undergo treatments (32.8% 2.3%, p< 0.001). Incidence lower among group (31.9% 36.8% ; OR=0.80 95%CI 0.66-0.98). differences also demonstrated Kaplan Meier survival cure (Graph). showed significantly gestations, accounting variables such age, (adjusted hazard ratio= 0.80; 0.64-0.99). DM. These findings suggest that predictive value maternal

Gestational diabetes mellitus
Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as any degree of glucose intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. The prevalence range from 1 to 14% of all pregnancies, depending on the population studied and the diagnostic tests employed. Risk assessment for GDM should be undertaken at the prenatal visit. Women with clinical characteristics of GDM should und...

OBJECTIVE Numerous studies in the U.S. and elsewhere have reported an increased risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) among women who are overweight or obese compared with lean or normal-weight women. Despite the number and overall consistency of studies reporting a higher risk of GDM with increasing weight or BMI, the magnitude of the association remains uncertain. This meta-analysis was...

OBJECTIVE Women who develop gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at increased risk of type 2 diabetes and subsequent cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Individuals with cardiovascular disorders have increased central aortic systolic blood pressure (SBP(Ao)) and arterial stiffness. The hypothesis of this study is that increased SBP(Ao) and arterial stiffness are apparent before the devel...
متن کاملGestational Diabetes Mellitus — Risk Factors and Screening
This debate received renewed attention in 2010 when the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups (IADPSG) recommended revisions to existing diagnostic criteria and screening protocols used to identify women with GDM. The revised screening guidelines would allow for earlier detection of maternal hyperglycemia and undiagnosed type 2 diabetes and would lower the diagnostic ...
متن کاملDietary Risk Factors for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
G estational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common medical problems found in pregnancy. Categorizing a woman as having GDM with a glucose tolerance test (GTT) identifies the top 5–10% of a continuum of risk for certain adverse pregnancy outcomes. Women with GDM are themselves very likely to ultimately develop type 2 diabetes. In addition, the offspring of women with GDM have a great...
